Imposter Syndrome and Trusting Your Inner Guidance

I’m standing in a room with 143 other would-be psychics and intuitives, convinced that everyone else can do this better than I can. I’m already comparing myself, judging myself to be less capable than all these other people—and we haven’t even started the first day of training! Wow. That’s Imposter Syndrome in full action.

Although this took place over twenty years ago, and despite the deep work I have done over the decades, doubts still sometimes creep in. Happily, I no longer become paralyzed by these doubts. When they do show up, I take it as an opportunity to ask why. Why am I doubting myself, my gifts, my skills, and my abilities? Where is my wounded inner child in this, and what event can I still heal? I’m grateful for the doubts as they show me where I need to go deeper.

Imposter Syndrome is that persistent inner voice telling you you’re not enough, that your insights aren’t valid, or that someone else knows better. It shows up across all areas of life—careers, relationships, creative work, and spiritual or intuitive pursuits. Research indicates that nearly 70% of people experience Imposter Syndrome at some point in their lives, and it affects women and men across all professional levels. It’s linked to anxiety, perfectionism, and self-limiting beliefs, and it can quietly erode confidence if left unaddressed.

The good news is that Imposter Syndrome is not permanent. It can be healed and transformed, especially when approached holistically—by working with your mind, body, and intuition. Here are three key ways to move through it:

Developing Your Intuition

When we trust our inner guidance, we naturally counter the doubts that feed Imposter Syndrome. Practices like meditation, energy sensing, or intuitive exercises help strengthen your ability to read subtle signals from your body, emotions, and environment. The more you listen to your intuition, the more confident you become in your own decisions and insights. Ask yourself: What messages is my body or intuition sending me today? How often do I act on these signals without second-guessing?

Shifting Limiting Beliefs

Imposter Syndrome is fueled by old, limiting beliefs: I’m not good enough; I must be perfect; others are more capable. These beliefs often stem from childhood experiences, societal pressures, or early conditioning. Through conscious reflection, affirmations, and guided exercises, you can identify these patterns and replace them with empowering beliefs. What stories are you telling yourself about your worth and abilities? How might you reframe these narratives to align with your true potential?

Healing Trauma

Unresolved trauma—whether emotional, psychological, or spiritual—can intensify feelings of inadequacy and fear of visibility. Healing work, whether through somatic practices, energy healing, or guided inner work, helps release the emotional blocks that fuel Imposter Syndrome. When trauma is addressed, the mind and body become free to access creativity, intuition, and confidence without the constant self-judgment that holds you back.

By integrating these practices, you create a foundation for sustained self-trust and authentic self-expression. Imposter Syndrome becomes not a permanent label, but a signal: a call to reconnect with your intuition, honor your experiences, and step fully into your gifts.

Remember, your inner guidance is always present—even when fear or doubt is loud. Pausing, listening, and acting on your intuition allows your unique gifts to be recognized, valued, and shared in the world. The journey through Imposter Syndrome is not just about silencing doubt—it’s about remembering and claiming your power as a fully authentic human being.
