and I feel fine (Thanx to R.E.M.)
I must admit, when I awoke this morning and looked out my window a small part of me went “phew”. Just a small part mind you. So many people asked me this time last year what I thought or felt this year would bring. My response was always the same – “Exactly what it will bring.” And if something monumental should happen, we could blame it on 2012 or we could simply know that life goes on, with or without our beliefs about it.
And although I know that Life doesn’t need my beliefs about it to go on, I need my beliefs about Life in order to create what I want my life experiences to be. And each and every one of my life experiences are based on the choices I make in every moment. That’s a lot of responsibility! And yet I wouldn’t want it any other way. When I know that my life is my choice I feel empowered and when there are events in my life that feel beyond my control, I know that my responses to those events are my own. I own this life of mine; I’d best take good care of it. And so it is true that “Life Is What You Make It” and it is also true that:
“Life is an opportunity, benefit from it. Life is beauty, admire it. Life is a dream, realize it. Life is a challenge, meet it. Life is a duty, complete it. Life is a game, play it. Life is a promise, fulfill it. Life is sorrow, overcome it. Life is a song, sing it. Life is a struggle, accept it. Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it. Life is luck, make it. Life is too precious, do not destroy it. Life is life, fight for it.”
― Mother Teresa
And just as true is this:
“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”
― Dr. Seuss,
At this time in our evolution, the most important thing that you can do is to show up in your Life and be truly who you are because the World needs you and so does Life, yours and mine
